Etchings

Etchings are in either copper or zinc and, unless otherwise noted, printed on Rives BFK.  Methods include line etching, flat biting, drawing into a soft ground, and multiple aquatints. Difficult to say exactly how long any particular project took as I work multiple projects at the same time.

With early prints I often added black to the colors to extend the value structure. During graduate school and after I’ve experimented with various forms of printing in color using multiple plates, registering layers of color, color roll layering, and the à la poupée method of inking multiple colors on one plate that is printed in one pass.
